"Easing into Pruitt Yard"

DS&N Freight WP-2 eases into Pruitt Yard (Dolittle Semore and Nap private railroad in Northern Pennsylvania) off of the West Pike sub with C&EI 241, and WAG 2300 in charge the 6 car train. An outbound PS-1 headed by WAG 2200 waits for the inbound to clear. 2200 & 2300 are former Wellsville Addison and Galeton F-7A units from that line in 1979. GP-50 #241 is from the Missouri Pacific, C&EI never rostered any GP-50's, this one was painted by the DS&N as a tribute to the C&EI (dynamic brakes were added in their shops). All 3 units were built by the EMD Division of Backyard Rails.

"Young Track Crew"

Kids are very important to the Doolittle, Semore, and Nap railroad with 1800' of track planned.  Adults lead busy lives, and railroad work time can be very limited. Not so with young folks when school is out. Here we see three of the four young people helping out  laying 60' of track in just a couple of hours. From left to right Chad, Matthias, and Isaac, are hard at work with little parental supervision. Matthias and his brother Graham, have been working on the railroad for over a year, and have over 80 hours each into its construction. Chad and Issac are new "hires" this day, but have already caught on. Thanks to the kids, this railroad will be finished this year. Chad is at the controls of the F7-A delivering track panels.

"Graham at the Throttle"

Seven year old Graham Agne is at the throttle of engine 970 on the West Pike subdivision of the DS&N, with a tool car in tow. Fully qualified on the railroad as engineer, and on the track crew, Graham loves the 970, even above the larger 4 axle power available to him. The nibble and quick Railroad Supply GE 25 tonner is a popular favorite with all the junior operators on our line.  Photo taken in April 2003.

"Live Steam goes to the Dogs"

Engineer and owner, Roy Corothers with his buddy Raschal. I think that if he could, Raschal would throw Roy off the train and grab the throttle. As Roy steams up, Raschal gets a little anxious and barks until he is placed on his riding car.  The engine is 7-1/4" gauge Heisler designed by Kozo and made by Roy.  Waushakum Live Steamers, August  2003. "Steaming into the Holidays"

I got my loco in front of the PV&A 1 1/2 inch scale station and took the picture of the engine under steam. One of the hardest things to find was the wreath in the right scale.
