"Jeff and Mike"

Meet 17 year old Jeff Parris, member of  PLS on my Railroad Supply Mikado ("Mike") at Train Mountain. I invited Jeff to go to Train Mountain 2 years ago and his mother was quite happy to pay his way. He had a blast. Said 9 days was too short. He is qualified on all steam locomotives at the club.

"All Aboard the Air Train"

Bo Hoffman's, 4 3/4 ga, 1"scale "Air Train". This engine runs on compressed air. The cars are the air tanks. A three minute fill up gets them around the loop one time. The throttle is mounted at the top of the first tank car making it easy for children to operate. No smoke, fire, or heat! The perfect engine for a kid to operate on their own. 8 year old Naomi, gives the "all aboard" and is ready to head out of the station giving Grandma (Marsha Gold) her first ride along with her twin sister Aliza.

"Anti-Clockwise"

At the Modelbouwvereniging Het Y's track near Amsterdam, The Netherlands, in 2002.  A 0-4-0 Decauville built from drawings in Live Steam Magazine.  Joop Stok is at the controls of the club loco (completed in 1991) in one of the quiet corners of the club track. More unusually, is the fact that we normally run in the other direction. Submitted by Andrew Mottram

My 7 1/4" gauge loco is on a temporary track nailed to the crossties of
a full-sized track. The engine in the background *is* full-size!

Just to prove there is absolutely NO trickery involved, I include a shot from a slightly different perspective... ;-)

Editor's Note:

This is a perfect example of how using a low angle for your shot can make all the difference.  Imagine yourself as a photographer 10 inches tall, taking a photo of your locomotive.

Additional Info from the Alaska Railroad Diesel

I wanted a winter shot for my business card. After a fresh snow fall, I unloaded my builders stand from the back of my pickup and sat it next to the fueling lead track. A white sheet was placed over the stand and Locomotive #1500 backed onto the stand. Evening sun resulted in this digital exposure about 8:15 PM. Of some 60 exposures, 5 were believable and became the fodder of April Fools traps, including a thank you note from railfans to the Alaska Railroad Corporation for the wonderful job of restoring #1500 to her original as delivered paint job. The locomotive was 17 years old at the time of the photograph. The body is a heavily modified (as in sectioned and choped) RR Supply car body with a Sundstrand variable swashplate pump and motor driven by a 5HP electric start Honda. Full cab detail includes the engineer, Gethro in the firemans seat and Jed Clampet, railfan, along for a cab ride. If you listen in you can hear the evening lineup on the radio as they prepare to make a run.
