Modeled after the Union Pacific locomotive, #3977 began service in 1943. Build by the American Locomotive Company, one of 25 ordered by the War Production Board for the UP.

The engineer is Stan's son Keith with Keith's daughter as passenger. They are crossing Hank's Creek with the aid of the 100 year old Dean's Bridge which was moved and reassembled in 1997. Taken at the Adirondack Live Steamers, October, 2001.
