Selling a 3-1/2" gauge Locomotive and Tender my late father
bought about 10 years ago. I do not know much about trains, but we believe
he bought this from the son of a local Detroit man who was building it. It
is a steam locomotive, 4-4-2 configuration designed with the famous "Shark
Nose" found on the "T1" streamliners. Additional wheel carriages are in
boxes that came with the train.
I would estimate the locomotive at 85% complete and the
tender at 55% complete. Mostly needed is paint, finish and trim. All parts
required to complete appear to be there. Also including are two cigar boxes
of misc. tubing, valves, fittings, etc.
Additionally, there is a straight section of track on
ballast mounted on a display board which will be part of the sale.
The engine is 3'-2" long, 8" wide and 11" high. The oil
tender is 2' long, 8" wide and 11" high. The boiler is completely enclosed
in a removable jacket. Brake lines and working shoe mechanisms are visible.
I can provide and additional information if you tell me specifically where
it should be located. I also can provide additional photos if you request.
We believe he bought this for $5,000. Asking $3,000
$2,000 or the best offer.
It is available for inspection in the Grosse Pointe (east Detroit suburb),
Michigan area at your convenience.
