“Lizard”
1915, 30” Gauge Hawaiian Plantation Style 0-4-2T
A great jump-start to
a small and charming Live Steamer! 7 1/2” gauge, 3” Scale, based on Allen
Models CHLOE. Highest quality professional machining and detailing by a
professional model-maker and owner/builder Bill Gould.
All difficult
machining finished, up to boiler stage, with minor completion required to
running gear, such as hardening the links and final bolt-up of the cylinders to
the frame. Features Stephenson valves fitted with Thompson Balance Valves, steam
brakes and custom brake valve (featured in a Live Steam Magazine series),
super-sounding whistle, and patterns for domes, bell stand and stack top. Frame
machined-all-over. Shown with mock-up of cab, tank and boiler, which I used to
set overall “look” and finalize appliance locations and design prior to
fabricating the boiler. Design is for a much larger boiler diameter (6” Schedule
40, 6.625 OD) and capacity than the Chloe, to be fitted into the smoke-box to
allow for appropriate lagging. Drivers are precision keyed to the axles, but
remain loose for disassembly, prior to final assembly and bonding with
industrial grade Loctite. Full Allen blueprint set and my layout sketches
included.
Asking $5500.
REDUCED to $4800 Location:
Fallbrook, CA, between San Diego and Los Angeles. Crating and shipping available
at cost plus 5%. Rolling work stand included only if picked up, as it cannot be
shipped.
