Your railroad my want to "cash in"
on the event by scheduling a run day on or around that date.
Suggestion: National Train Day commemorates the
anniversary of the
joining of East with the West at Promontory Utah.
Why not have a scale reenactment of this famous event? It's way more than
a gold spike and hammer. The original speeches are available on line.
They predicted the effect of railroads on the future of this country. It's very
interesting how they were both very close and miles away from predicting the
future of railroading in the US. If your railroad is considered "PUBLIC"
, a scale re-enactment with real steam will be irresistible to the press and
the general public. It's Free Publicity.
