EXCLUSIVE NEW BOOK Has just arrived

Peter's Railway and the
Moonlight Express

by Christopher Vine. Published by Christopher Vine.

The continuing adventures of a young boy from the UK who lives with his family at the edge of his Grandpa’s farm.  Grandpa and Peter have constructed a miniature steam railway across Grandpa's farm to the boy's house.

Now the pair need to add more track, a turntable and a loop at the far end to turn the train around. These projects bring up several technical concepts that are simply explained in the illustrated drawings.  More of the workings of a steam locomotive are explored as well.

It's a very exciting time for Peter as he learns to drive the steam engine. It's what he's been waiting for since they stared to build the railway.  Except for a minor disaster, everything works as they planned. The story finishes with the railway running at night, taking Grandma to a surprise birthday dinner.

Hardback, 96 pages with 30 watercolor pictures. There are 14 pages of simple technical drawings to explain, add interest and answer questions.

Children ages 6-12.  This is the second book in a new series.

Hardcover, 96 page, 9-3/4 x 7". Contains 30 watercolor pictures and 14 pages of simple technical drawings.

"For years I have searched libraries-bookstores-various train magazines-the internet-etc. for plain English technical information and visuals that would appeal to children. My countless hours of searching and stumbling through cyberspace has produced little. But now, after having "dug through a lot of rocks" I finally struck GOLD in your books."  more

About the author

Christopher Vine has always been fascinated by all things mechanical and electrical.  In fact, his first words were "Turn it on" and "Turn it off" which just about covered everything of interest.

He started making things early on with his first working go-kart at the age of seven.  It had a car battery and starter motor as motive power and a telegraph key as the switch.  The next dangerous device was a motor bike made from a tiny child's bike and a lawn mower engine.  The drive involved a large and vital pulley from his mother's washing machine.  So started a lifetime of making things.

The only thing he wanted for his eleventh birthday was a lathe. An old one was found for 20 pounds which although worn out, did produce a small stationary steam engine, a Stuart Turner No. 10.

Though he's licensed in engineering, his greatest interest has always been railways, steam engines and in particular, model engineering.
